Computer Cleanup and Updating

$65/hour with a minimum of 1 hour labor
¬†Removal of Spyware, Viruses or Freeware Programs that interfere with the machine’s operations that cannot be fixed via a basic scan.
  • Windows Updates for supported Microsoft Operating Systems
  • Upgrading existing Anti-Virus/Spyware software
  • Fix registry if needed
  • May require removal of corrupt or expired anti-virus and/or anti-spyware software
  • BIT is not responsible for renewing anti-virus/spyware software that is not supported by BIT
  • Programs that are infected by a virus or spyware may need to be re-installed

Connection/Email Creation

Free for BIT Dial-up/DSL/Digital customers
Non BIT Dial-up/DSL/Digital customers, $65/hour with a minimum of 1 hour
  • Manually setting up Dial-up connection
  • Manually setting up email accounts

Reinstall Operating System or Upgrade Operating System (Windows OS ONLY)

$65/hour with a minimum of 2 hours labor
  • Formatting of the hard drive (COMPLETELY erasing all data)
  • Basic Inspection of the computer functions
  • Re-installation of all associated drivers
  • BIT will not install “pirated” or non-legitimate versions of software
  • Re-installation of BIT accounts
  • BIT is not responsible for software incompatibility with Windows OS. It is the customer’s responsibility to check for software compatibility before software is installed. Non-compatible software can cause system crash, failure, or other problems. As with any new Operating System, compatibility can change at anytime.
  • Due to Windows operating system upgrades, BIT may not have knowledge of all Windows software issues until they are addressed by Microsoft
  • BIT is not responsible for installation of any software if customer does not have original media for re-installation
  • Customer may be required to provide the following:
    • Recovery disks that came with the system
    • Disks for any software that needs to be reinstalled
    • Driver disks
    • Valid product keys for operation system and all other software

Backup of your Data

$65/hour with a minimum of 1 hour labor plus the cost of media
CD’s and DVD’s $5 per disk ¬†External hard drives and USB flash drives are sold on site as well
  • BIT recommends that you back up your data on a regular basis
    • BIT does not back up your data unless requested, or without a charge
  • Unless notified otherwise, BIT will back up My Documents, My Pictures, and email contacts if accessible. Customer must inform the customer service representative when the computer is dropped off for repair if any special files need to be backed up. Email in not backed up unless specifically requested by the customer


  • Windows 3.1, 95, 98, Millennium and XP are no longer supported by Microsoft and have limited support in terms of antivirus/spyware compatibility. Many programs no longer work on these operating systems.
  • If original software is no longer available, BIT cannot guarantee that it can obtain the recovery software
  • Updates from Microsoft, or any other software manufacturer, will only cover updates up until Microsoft or other software companies stopped supporting the software
  • Extra charges could be accrued due to the lack of software and resource options for non-supported Microsoft Operating Systems

Express Service

  • If express (RUSH) service is requested labor is $90/hour with a minimum of a hour
    • moving computer ahead in the work queue


  • BIT/BIT technicians are not responsible, in any way, for the loss of either data or hardware during repair. It is the customer’s responsibility to back up any critical data before bringing in the PC for repair. Data backup is performed only if requested and at a charge of $65/hour with a minimum of a hour.
  • BIT is not responsible for loss or damage of any computer or parts left overnight. That said, the office will be locked and alarmed at night
  • Repairs will be performed on a first-come, first-serve basis
    • Normal repair time is 3-9 business days
  • BIT assumes no liability for the legality of any content or software found on a customer’s computer
  • The customer is responsible for the manufacturer’s warranty on his/her computer. If the customer requests BIT to perform services that void the manufacturer’s warranty, BIT assumes no responsibility for that warranty.
  • A BIT technician will contact you upon completion of the repairs
  • BIT warranties dial-up modems for a period of 24 hours. Most dial-up modem failures occur due to environmental conditions (such as lightning and surge) and are not even covered by the manufacturer’s warranty
  • All computer repairs must be picked up within 30 days of a technician informing the customer that the repair is complete, After said 30 day period , a holding charge of $10 a week will be incurred. After 60 days, the computer will be considered abandoned and will be recycled and/or disposed of
  • Technician will contact customer prior to repair only if the labor and/or parts exceed the $65/hour minimum or if the technician has previously discussed charges with the customer
